The Mississippi Trucking Association Self Insurers Fund (MTA SIF) was created by the MS Trucking Association in June 1991, and was designed to develop, implement and administer a program of workers’ compensation group self-insurance for the members of the MTA SIF. Operating as a non-profit organization, the Fund will seek to provide its members an improved loss control program, to promote safety, to reduce accidents and injuries to the employees of its members, and to minimize the cost of workers’ compensation. Any money not needed to pay operating and claims expense is returned to the member in the form of a dividend.
In 2005, the MTA SIF acquired the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores Association’s Food and Fuel Trust, merging the two together to form the Mississippi Truck, Food & Fuel Self Insurers Fund (MTFF SIF). The program is endorsed by the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers Association and the Mississippi Trucking Association. The MTFF SIF focuses on long-haul trucking companies and businesses operating with storage and distribution of gasoline, diesel, aviation, heating, industrial fuels, convenient stores.
The MTFF SIF is operated by a Fund Administrator and governed by a Board of Directors containing members of both funds.
To date, the MTFF SIF has declared more than $8 million dividends!!
